Privacy Policy
Last updated October 13, 2026
- There are no accounts, logins or passwords, and we never ask for your name or email.
- StarStock sets no cookies for visitors and shows no ads. We don't sell or share data with anyone.
- Your favorites, cart and settings are saved in your own browser. We don't keep a copy of them.
- If you turn on price alerts, we store your alerts and the address your browser gives us for sending notifications, and nothing else. Turning alerts off deletes both.
- We count visitors with an anonymous code worked out on our server that changes every 30 days. Nothing is stored in your browser for it, and it can't identify you.
StarStock (starstock.app) is a free, unofficial set of tools for the mobile game EVE Echoes, run by an independent developer. It is not affiliated with CCP Games or NetEase. This page explains exactly what information the site handles.
1. What stays on your device
These are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. StarStock's servers don't keep them:
- Your favorites (the items you star) and your item cart.
- Your settings: language, light/dark theme, Jita/All regions prices, sales tax rate and the “hide items with no sell orders” option.
- On the Contracts, Planetary Industry and Industry pages: your search, sort and filter choices, your skill levels, your planet plan and industry plan, and when you last opened the Contracts page (to mark contracts that are new since then).
- On the Star Chart: where the map was and how far it was zoomed, and whether the background stars are on.
- Offline copies: the site saves the pages and prices you've already looked at so it still works if you lose your connection. They stay on your device and are replaced as you browse.
To erase all of this, clear this site's data in your browser settings.
2. What the site sends to our server
To show prices, your browser asks StarStock's server for data. From those requests we record:
- An anonymous visitor code. Our server works it out from your IP address and browser type, mixed with a secret key that changes every 30 days, so codes from different months can't be linked. We use it only to count how many different people use the site and how many come back on another day. Your IP address itself is not saved, and nothing is stored in your browser for this.
- What you look at: which items you open, what you search for and which categories you browse. We see these as totals (for example, “most-viewed items this week”) to decide what to improve.
- The items whose prices you need. To show your Favorites tab, the site asks for the current prices of the items on it, the same way it does when you open an item page. We don't store that list.
Like any website, our server receives your IP address with each request. We use it only for a few seconds to stop anyone from overloading the site with too many requests. To limit very heavy use, we also count how many single-item requests come from your network (the network part of an IP address, for example 203.0.113.x) each day. That count is kept without the address and deleted at 00:00 UTC. We don't store a list of IP addresses. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs, which may include IP addresses, for a few days to help fix errors.
Public API use. For requests to our public API that don't come from this site's own pages (scripts, bots, spreadsheets), we also log: the requesting network's provider name and country, the program name it sends (its user agent), a network code (worked out on our server from the network part of the address mixed with a secret key that changes every 30 days; the address itself is not saved), what was requested and whether it was answered or limited. We use this to spot heavy or abusive use of the API. For all requests we also log how much database work each kind of request caused, without anything about you.
Usage totals, visitor codes and API logs are kept for about three months, then deleted automatically.
2a. Price alerts (only if you turn them on)
When you set a price alert and allow notifications, your browser gives us a push address: a long web address at your browser's notification service, plus two keys that encrypt the messages so only your browser can read them. We store:
- that push address and its keys, under a random code that's saved in your browser (so it can see and change its own alerts);
- each alert: the item, the price, buy or sell, Jita or all regions, and when it last fired.
We don't get your name, email, phone number or IP address from this. When an item reaches your price, our server sends an encrypted message through your browser's notification service (Google for Chrome and Android, Apple for Safari and iPhone, Mozilla for Firefox, Microsoft for older Edge), which delivers it to your device.
Your alerts and push address are deleted when you tap Turn off alerts on this device (Watchlist tab), when your browser tells us notifications were turned off or the address stopped working, or after 90 days in which this browser hasn't used StarStock's alerts.
3. Services we rely on
- Your browser's notification service (Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft), only if you turn on price alerts. It carries our encrypted alert messages to your device and can't read them.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and the price server. It also provides the site's visitor statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics), which don't use cookies or track you across other websites. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
The site's font is served from StarStock itself, so your browser doesn't contact Google or any other font service.
Links to Discord, Patreon and Afdian take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies. If you use a spreadsheet export, Google Sheets or Excel fetches prices from our server directly. It sends no visitor ID.
4. Children
StarStock isn't aimed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
5. Your choices and rights
Since we hold no names, emails or accounts, there is normally nothing that identifies you personally. You can:
- Clear this site's data in your browser at any time. That deletes your favorites, cart, settings and offline copies.
- Turn off price alerts with Turn off alerts on this device on the Watchlist tab, or block notifications for StarStock in your browser. Either way we delete your alerts and push address.
- Block the visitor statistics with a content blocker. The site still works.
- Email us with any privacy question or request, including requests under laws like GDPR or CCPA.
If you're in the EU, UK or a similar place, you also have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it deleted, and to object to how we use it. Because visitor codes are anonymous and change every 30 days, we normally can't tell which records are yours, but email us and we'll help however we can. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
6. Why we're allowed to handle this data
Under the GDPR, we rely on our legitimate interest in running a free website: keeping it working and secure (the IP address check that stops overloads) and understanding, in totals, how it's used so we can improve it (visitor codes and what's viewed). We keep this to the minimum needed, never use it to identify you, and never sell or share it.
Price alerts are based on your consent: we only store a push address after you set an alert and allow notifications, and you can withdraw it at any time by turning alerts off.
7. Changes
If StarStock starts handling anything new, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
8. Disclaimer and trademarks
Prices, planet outputs and other numbers on StarStock are collected automatically and may be wrong, incomplete or out of date. They are for information only, not financial advice, and you use them at your own risk. StarStock is provided free and as is, with no guarantees.
